I'm Guy Midford. I came to Aotearoa in 1974 as a penniless surfer, and financially, not much has changed. I have one son, Tully, who lives locally. I've had various roles, including plumber, marketing and sales. After a low point, I became a life skills tutor at a charitable trust, then a literacy and

numeracy tutor at ElT for 15 years. I was a Probation Officer for ten years

before retiring.

Now, I'm at Tauawhi, the best job l've had.

I have a background in sport and youth development, and my passion is supporting whānau build stronger connections with their tamariki through activity-based engagement. I aim to create safe, hands-on spaces where dads, uncles, and koro can spend meaningful time with their kids—learning, playing, and growing together. Grounded in kaupapa Māori values, my mahi focuses on strengthening whānau bonds and promoting positive fatherhood in our communities; and simply being present together. That’s the belief that drives this mahi, and I’m proud to walk alongside our fathers and tamariki on this journey.
